The Burmese ordered 6 Su-30SME back in 2018 for $34 million per unit which will be delivered by this year. Some experts believe Myanmar might order additional Su-30SMEs. Currently, the Myanmar Air Force’s Su-30SME is undergoing factory trials before formally handing them over to Myanmar.

Russia expressed confidence that the Su-30 warplanes would become the main fighter jets of the Myanmar’s Air Force to protect territorial integrity and repel terrorist attacks.
Russia has started assembling the six Su-30SME fighters that will be delivered to Myanmar under a 2018 bilateral contract, Myanmar Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Min Aung Hlaing told Russia’s Sputnik News.
The Su-30SME is an export variant of Su-30SM fighter jet, developed by Russia’s Sukhoi Company, and is capable of air-to-air and air-to-ground missions with a wide variety of precision-guided munitions, according to the United Aircraft Corporation.
During the visit by Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu to Myanmar the South East Asian republic signed an agreement to purchase six Su-30 fighters. These are set to form the frontline fighters of the country’s Air Force – currently comprised primarily of lighter platforms such as the MiG-29 and JF-17.
