BEIRUT, LEBANON (GDC) – The Turkish HISAR air defense system shot down a Mi-35 helicopter – all those on board died, learned GDC quoting Russian news agency Avia.Pro.
A Turkish air defense system managed to shoot down a Russian-made chopper in the northern region of Libya on Sunday, the Libyan National Army (LNA) confirmed.
According to the LNA, their Russian-made Mi-35 helicopter was flying over the Misrata area, when their Mi-35 chopper was hit by air defense missiles belonging to the Government of National Accord (GNA) forces and their allies.
According to the data that appeared several hours ago, the Turkish air defense system, and it is allegedly the HISAR medium-range air defense system shot down an Mi-35 attack helicopter, on board of which there were three crew members. The helicopter was shot down near the city of Misrat, while none of those on board survived.
At the moment, representatives of the Libyan National Army confirmed that a Russian-made rotor-wing attack machine was shot down, noting that the helicopter crashed, given the fact that Turkey’s HISAR air defense systems were actually deployed within Turkish controlled area in Lybia. Moreover, the helicopter crash area is located almost on the border of the regions controlled by the VLA and PNE forces.
It should be clarified that the Libyan military is actively using Russian-made attack helicopters, noting that these combat vehicles are used for striking at enemy.
