Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace announced on 14 April that it has received an FMS contract to deliver its Protector Remote Weapon Station (RWS) to the Lithuanian Armed Forces.
The deal is part of a broader $170.8 million package under the US Army Commonly Remotely Operated Weapon Station (CROWS) programme.
CROWS will be delivered to Lithuania in tandem with Oshkosh Defense Joint Light Tactical Vehicles. This is the first contract between Kongsberg Defense and the Lithuanian Government under FMS.
Scott Burk, vice-president of Kongsberg Defense, said: ‘Lithuanian Armed Forces officials are setting the standard when it comes to how to best acquire these light tactical vehicles by integrating the right equipment and maximizing the interoperability, performance, parts and supply chain. Given the close geographic region, European countries are doing their due-diligence when selecting a US-validated system.’
Kongsberg has delivered almost 20,000 Protector RWS units to more than 20 countries worldwide.
