German Defence Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer has told the US government that Berlin has given clearance for the Luftwaffe to acquire 30 Super Hornet and 15 EA-18 Growler aircraft.
The Boeing F/A-18E/F Super Hornet and EA-18G Growler buy to partially satisfy the Luftwaffe (German Air Force) Tornado replacement requirement has been approved by the German government, Der Spiegel has reported.
To fulfill the shortfall of aircrafts, the German Air Force will acquire 40 new Eurofighter Typhoon Tranche 3 to complement 143 Eurofighter Typhoon already in service with Luftwaffe and of these 143 aircraft, 38 Tranche 1 aircrafts will be replaced by the same number of Tranche 3 aircrafts under Project Quadriga said Kramp-Karrenbauer in April 20 according to British defense magazine Jane’s.
