Indra has confirmed that it is participating in the New Generation Weapon System/Future Combat Air System (NGWS/FCAS) Joint Concept Study as the national co-ordinator for Spain, on a par with Dassault (France) and Airbus D&S (Germany).
As a result, Indra noted in a 28 July statement, Spanish industry (including ITP and SATNUS) will be able to increase its participation in the programme.
Indra is also entering into international industrial agreements that enable it to consolidate its position in the demonstration phase, where it will lead (alongside Airbus and Dassault) the inter-pillar consistency/SIMLAB element of NGWS/FCAS.
The company is also jointly leading the Sensors development strand with Thales and German consortium FCMS; and it will participate as main partner alongside Thales in the Airbus-led Combat Cloud.
Indra estimates that development and production of NGWS/FCAS will generate billions of euros in investment in the decades ahead. Initial estimates point to a potential figure of €300 billion ($3.5 billion) over the next 40 years.
