Thanks to Turkish F-16, only four fighters remained in service with Armenia

Armenia has only four fighters left. Turkish F-16 has successfully destroyed Russian-made Su-25 and MiG-25 of Armenia. According to Azerbaijani news, at least four F-16 fighters have been transferred to Azerbaijan from Turkey to date.

Yerevan turned out to be completely unprepared for any kind of air clashes with Turkey and Azerbaijan, which is primarily due to the fact that the Armenian Air Force is armed with only 4 fighters capable of protecting the country’s airspace – Azerbaijan has almost 9 times more.

The Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense claims that two Su-25 attack aircraft of the Armenian Air Force was shot down into the mountain on September 29.

Despite the fact that Armenia is armed with Russian Su-30 fighters, today the advantage is clearly on the side of neighboring Azerbaijan and Turkey, since four aircraft, even if all combat aircraft are allowed to be lifted into the air, is not enough even to provide any resistance by the opposing parties to the conflict, which has been going on for the fifth day. Another 8 fighters are awaiting their delivery to Yerevan, however, at the moment the situation is very deplorable.

If the situation cannot be resolved through diplomatic means, then both Ankara and Baku will go all-in, using their military aircraft. The fact that the F-16s are superior to the MiG-29, MiG-25, and Su-30, it is clear that four fighters will not be enough to defend the country, the analyst notes.

Experts did not anticipate that Turkey would really intervene in the situation, resulting total loss of Armenian Air Force. Armenia will enlist the help of Russia as a partner in the CSTO, however, at the moment the situation is rather ambiguous due to the lack of direct support and an air corridor between Russia and Armenia.

Turkish F-16 In Azerbaijan

Public Radio of Armenia reported that Press Secretary of the Armenian Ministry of Defense, Shushan Stepanyan, confirmed that the Su-25 was shot down. The single crewmember was killed in the incident.

Stepanyan also Tweeted that, “Today, at around 10:30 am, F-16 fighters of the Turkish Air Force took off from the “Ganja” airport from the Republic of Azerbaijan and ensured the delivery of bombing and missile strikes against settlements and ground units of the Armenian Armed Forces”.

According to Greek news outlets and social media accounts, “Turkish F-16 jets were deployed to Ganja Airbase in July/August under the pretext of joint exercises, but remained there. A week ago, they were seen flying over Ganja city by locals.” At the time of writing it is still not clear whether there are Turkish F-16s still deployed to Azerbaijan or not.
