Kazakhstan’s supply of drones from Turkey has come to the fore. A delegation from Kazakhstan to Turkey inspected the 14th Unmanned Aircraft Systems Base Command in Batman at the end of November 2020.
There was talk that Astana would buy Bayraktar TB2 armed drones, but According to Russian media reports, Kazakhstan has begun work to add Bayraktar TB3 to its inventory.
After the performance of Bayraktar platforms in the Nagorno-Karabakh war, Kazakhstan’s interest in Turkish-made drones increased.
Selçuk Bayraktar stated that the test was carried out a month ago, the engine tested was not a prototype and it was a mass production engine. There is no official explanation yet regarding the design details and payloads of the TB3, whose name is only mentioned. However, the estimates are that there will be a MALE (medium altitude, long-stay-in-air) class UAV between Bayraktar TB3 and AKINCI.
