Twenty Turkish Bayraktar TB2 UAVs joined forces to attack the Syrian Pantsir-S1 complex, making many combat crews unable to protect at the same time in front of dozens of enemy missiles.
According to the Turkish Sokha newspaper, Turkey launched several dozen missile strikes at the Pantsir-S1 complex destroying the Pantsir-S1 SAM of Syrian Army.
According to Turkish military expert Enes Kai, Turkish soldiers used a group of 20 Bayraktar TB2 drones to attack the Pantsir-S1 complexes in Idlib Syria. Many Syrian air defense batteries could not simultaneously defend themselves against at least two dozen MAM-L and MAM-S guided aircraft missiles.
Given the unprecedented attack by the Turkish military, it was really quite difficult to repel it, said the Syrian Army colonel.
In an interview with the Red Star channel (Russia), the director of the “Kupol” Mechatronic Plant (under the Almaz-Altey Group of Russia), Mr. Fanil Ziyadinov shared his views of loss of Pantsir-S1, Not even a secret, it was the UAVs, mainly the strike type, that was the new challenge for the Russian-made air defense forces. The emergence of drones directly related to the events in Nagorno-Karabakh, Syria and Libya caused major headache for the Russian military and its allies, dozens of anti-aircraft missile complexes from Russia have been destroyed.
The President of Azerbaijan, Mr. Aliev, said that Turkish-made drones destroyed 1 S-300 system, 5 “Tor” anti-aircraft missile complexes, 40 “Osa” anti-aircraft missile complexes, 4 “Kub” anti-aircraft missile complexes in Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. was annihilated in Karabakh, which guaranteed the Azeri dominance in the air and, in the end, overcame the Armenians.
Many Syrian air defense batteries, including professional soldiers, were unable to protect at the same time against at least two dozen MAM-L and MAM-С guided air missiles. The Turks knew in advance the exact coordinates of a series of anti-aircraft missile complexes.
Syrian Army’s Pantsir-S1 operators reported electronic interference emitted by Turkey’s Koral Radar Electronic attack system, making the Pantsir complex’s positioning radar stations ineffective. It turns out that the fight against UAVs equipped with electronic warfare systems was fruitless as the Soviet-era anti-air systems do not possess modern electronics to counter high electronic interference environment.
Furthermore, Turkish reconnaissance often guides the MAM-L and MAM-С missiles from the ground by laser target indications, not UAV operators. All of this indirectly says that the Syrians have more or less learned to counter the new threat.
Based on the Russian Tass news agency, the loss rate in Libya is 9 Russian Pantsil-S1 air defense missile complexes comparing no loss of Bayraktar TB2 drones. In contrast, the losses of the Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft artillery-missile complexes in Syria and Karabakh are related to the ineffectiveness of the air defense systems.
