Jordan reportedly delivered 35 mobile launchers and an Osa-AK anti-aircraft defense system simulator to Armenia for an amount of $27 million.
The entire OSA SHORAD systems were destroyed by Azerbaijani Bayraktar TB2 drones during the last Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
This revelation was made by Mikayel Minasyan, former Armenian diplomat and son-in-law of former President Serge Sagsyan, through a video recorded last June. Minasyan claims that the 35 anti-aircraft batteries would have been bought at a much lower price from Jordan, the difference would have gone into the pockets of ex-prime minister Nikol Pshinyan and businessman David Galstyan who concluded the case.
The fear of CAATSA Jordan has put a lot of Russian and Chinese military equipment up for sale in the past two years. Planes and its entire fleet of CH-4 drones and we also discover that this has extended to anti-air defense. This sale made it possible to schedule new purchases. The fact that Amman gets rid of its OSA-AK and CH-4 could confirm the imminent occurrence of the deal concerning modern western air defense systems.
As a reminder, Jordan had opted for the Osa-AK at the end of the 70s after having considered the conditions of purchase of the American MIM-23 Hawk too restrictive.
