Naval Group, India’s GRSE To Build Kamorta-class ASW Corvettes

GRSE, a premier Defence PSU shipyard, along with Naval Group, the leader in the European Naval Defence industry, has signed a ‘Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)’ on 9th September 2021 to collaborate and promote surface ships to India and friendly navies.

Naval Group collaborates with India’s leading shipbuilder GRSE to offer surface ships for India and export markets based on the adaptable and sea proven Gowind design. GRSE will work closely with the French and Indian industries.

The MoU seeks to leverage the capabilities of both partners to meet the growing requirements of international navies and offer a robust world-class product. This blend of technology, innovation and management of state of art Indian and French naval expertise will be a real value proposition for modern navies.

Our association with Naval Group of France aims to set a new benchmark in capitalizing export market in the Indo Pacific region. The partnership will set a new ground for surface ship building using design and technology assistance from Naval Group. This will not only bring mutual benefit for both the nations but also enable GRSE to promote surface ships to Friendly Foreign Countries in line with our Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vison of ‘SAGAR’”.

Rear Admiral Saxena (IN Retd.), CMD of GRSE

On the occasion of the signature, Mr Alain Guillou, SEVP international development at Naval Group said, this extension of cooperation with GRSE, with whom we had worked for the propulsion system of Kamorta class ASW corvettes, clearly highlights our long-term investment in India and emphasises the potential of strategic relations shared between France and India in the Indo-Pacific region.
