The other day UK Defence Secretary Ben Wallace announced about the transfer of a new batch of M270 MLRS. Thus, Ukraine will soon have 25 multiple rocket launchers for GMLRS missiles.

So far the U.S. has sent 12 HIMARS to Ukraine. Four more missile systems are on the way. The UK has previously given us three units of M270 MLRS, and in early August the German MARS II arrived in Ukraine. This is a European licensed copy of M270 MLRS with minor modifications.

MARS II and M270 MLRS have two containers each for six GMLRS missiles. HIMARS carries six missiles. This means that 25 multiple rocket launchers can simultaneously launch 204 rockets GMLRS.

Currently the Armed Forces of Ukraine use missiles M31A1 with a warhead weighing 90 kg. The range is from 15 km to 84 km, and guidance is provided by GPS. The cost of one projectile is $150 000.
