The Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed a Russian Pantsir-SM-SV anti-aircraft missile and gun system and a T-72 tank in southern Ukraine.
“The enemy has lost 23 Russian soldiers, another modernized Pantsir anti-aircraft missile and gun system, a T-72 tank, a Msta-C self-propelled howitzer, and five vehicles, including armoured vehicles.”
The operational command notes that Ukrainian aircraft have struck a concentration of Russian military personnel, weapons and equipment near Snihurivka. The consequences of the airstrike are being confirmed.
Operational Command Pivden (South) notes that “the situation is tense but stable”.
First, Russian sources allege Pantsirs struggled to detect and shoot down small, crude kamikaze drones employed by the Ukrainian military against Russian Pantsir —allegedly performing worse than the Russian Army’s Tor system in the same role.
This is not a purely niche issue, as state-level actors are procuring similar small loitering munitions of greater sophistication as well as larger, longer-range kamikaze drones packing a heavier punch. Indeed, multiple videos show kamikaze drones destroying Pantsirs operated by Russian military.
According to the team of researchers at the Oryx blog, who counts Russia’s military equipment losses in Ukraine based on photographs sent from the front lines, the Russian Armed Forces have already lost 29 Pantsir-S1 air defense systems to Kamikaze drone attacks.
