The Pantsir-SM-SV is a modernized version of legacy Pantsir-S1, according TASS news agency. Pantsir-S1 was exported to Syria, Libya and Armenia, while Russia deployed the system in Donetsk Oblast, Kherson and Crimean Peninsula. Russia deployed several regiments of Pantsir-SM-SV and Pantsir-S1 in Moscow and other parts of Russia.

The Pantsir-S1 has a poor target interception records in Syria, Libya, Armenia and Ukraine wars, due to its unidirectional radar fails to detect low altitude drones and aircraft.

The wreckage of the drone was found on Komsomolsky Prospekt 300 meters from the defense building. Journalists from the Russian service of Radio Liberty noted the absence of any signs of Pantsir-SM-SV operation. Perhaps the anti-aircraft missile and cannon system couldn’t detect drones.

The Pantsir-S1, also known by the NATO reporting name SA-22 Greyhound, is a combined short-to-medium range surface-to-air missile and anti-aircraft artillery weapon system produced by Russia. Its role is critical in protecting key military areas, industrial targets, and land troops. It also serves to reinforce the air defense units of other military branches and services.
