A Russian Su-30SM fighter jet has crashed during a training mission in the enclave of Kaliningrad , killing both pilots on board.
“The Su-30SM aircraft crashed in a deserted area. The flight was carried out without ammunition. The crew died,” local military authorities said.
Military officials said that it was likely caused by a technical malfunction in engine control system.
Kaliningrad, where Russia’s popular fighter jet crashed, is a Russian exclave on the Baltic Sea, positioned between NATO member states Poland and Lithuania.
Two Russian fighter jets also crashed last month while on training missions, one into the Pacific Ocean and one into the Sea of Azov.
