The Ukrainian Armed Forces have destroyed a rare Russian electronic warfare station. It has the name RB-636M2 Svet-KU.
From 2016 to 2021, the stations were spotted four times on the territory of the temporarily occupied Luhansk region. The Ukrainian Defence Forces destroyed the target with a GMLRS precision-guided projectile fired from the M142 HIMARS missile system.
RB-636M2 “Svet-KU” is used to assess the electromagnetic situation, search and analyse radio emissions. The station can also locate sources of radio emissions in the ultra-high frequency range.
RB-636M2 “Svet-KU” was taken into service in 2012. How many electronic warfare stations have entered service with the Russian army is not specified at the moment.
