The Ukrainian Air Force is to receive US fourth-generation F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter jets in the coming months. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine had agreed on the delivery of about fifty aircraft, but needs about three times as many.

The donors of the fourth-generation fighters will be Norway, Denmark and the Netherlands. Volodymyr Zelensky said that the Ukrainian Air Force already has agreements to supply about 60 aircraft.

However, to form a powerful air fleet, the country needs about three times as many American fighter jets. The Ukrainian president believes that 160 F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft are enough to prevent Russia from dominating the sky.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed that the country needs American fighter jets not for offensive purposes, but to protect civilians and the grain corridor. Probably a condition for the F-16 transfer will be a ban on the use of F-16s for strikes on russian territory. Denmark has already confirmed this.
