Ukrainian soldiers from the 68th Jaeger Brigade have successfully captured one of Russia’s main battle tanks, the T-90M Proryv (Breakthrough).

The tank was reportedly abandoned on the battlefield during a recent Russian assault and was subsequently evacuated by a Ukrainian driver in a daring operation.

In addition to the T-90M, Ukrainian troops also captured a T-80 tank and a BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicle. These captures are seen as significant victories, showcasing the resilience and tactical prowess of the Ukrainian military in the ongoing war.

The T-90M Proryv, an upgraded version of the T-90, is equipped with advanced armor, a new turret design, and an improved fire control system. It represents the pinnacle of Russian armored vehicle technology currently in operational use. Despite these advancements, approximately 100 T-90Ms have been lost on the battlefield, with about five captured by Ukrainian forces in fully operational condition.

The T-90M is a crucial asset for the Russian military, intended to enhance their ground forces’ capabilities with its sophisticated defensive and offensive systems. The tank features reactive armor, a new composite armor layout, and advanced countermeasures against anti-tank guided missiles.
