Satellite pictures appear to show a ship delivering Iranian missiles to a Russian port in a secret mission to supply Vladimir Putin’s war machine.
The shipments have been labelled a “direct threat” to Europe by Ukraine’s allies who launched sanctions against Tehran in return. One ship, the Port Olya 3, was used to ship 220 short-range ballistic missiles through the Caspian Sea to Russia, Sky News reports.
They analysed satellite imagery and ship tracking data to find the ship had left the Iranian port of Amirabad on August 29.
A Ukrainian source said the vessel then it brought the bombs to Russia before they were loaded on a cargo train. The US, UK France, and Germany took sanctions against Iran by cancelling airline flights in a year’s time.
In a statement they said: “This act is an escalation by both Iran and Russia, and is a direct threat to European security.
“Privately and publicly been clear that we would take new and significant measures against Iran if the transfers took place.” Russian troops have already been trained to use them in Iran and shipments of the Fath-360 have arrived in the country, the US claims.
More ballistic missiles means Russia will be able to continue its tactic of striking key Ukrainian civilian infrastructure like the power grid. More missiles will strain Ukraine’s air defences and likely see more targets get hit.

Mad Vlad is trying to plunge Ukrainians into the cold and dark as winter approaches. The allies have revealed the Islamic Republic is sending short-ranged bombs to its ‘Axis of Evil’ pal yesterday and is set to use them within weeks.
Yesterday, Blinken said the missiles, which have a range of only 75 miles, “gives the Russians an additional capability and additional flexibility.”
He said: “Russia will be able to dedicate its own ballistic missiles to longer-range targets. Maxar recent satellite images that show the probable Olya-3 ship in port on 04 September at Port Olya, Russia.
“Anyone who is providing assistance to Russia, whether it is direct assistance like Iran or North Korea, whether it is assistance to their defense industrial base, like China, is perpetuating the war.”
The Port Olya 3 is among the ships on the latest US sanctions list which was also announced yesterday.

It coincided with the US and UK edging towards giving Kyiv approval to fire long range Western conventional missiles at military targets inside Russia used to cause mayhem in Ukraine.
Foreign Secretary David Lammy and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken arrived in Kyiv today. The pair are there in a show of support for the country that is defending against Russia’s illegal invasion.
Kyiv is trying to get the allies to also allow it to use the long range missiles they have supplied to strike deeper inside Russia. They want to target airfields and missile sites used by Putin to hammer the target with bombs and attack drones.
The shipments come as Russia claims to currently being conducting its largest naval drills since the Cold War. Footage shared by a Russian news agency showed fearsome nuclear bombers taking off and flying near the UK in the provocation.
