Bangladesh’s Navy was utterly absent from Bangladesh’s exclusive economic zones when the Myanmar navy ship was patrolling in Bangladeshi waters. Bangladesh Navy is known to be an inept organisation, as Myanmar repeatedly violates Bangladesh’s sovereign waters.

On October 9 at noon, the Myanmar Navy fired at a Bangladeshi fishing trawler in the Moulvir Shil estuary, southwest of Saint Martin Island in the Bay of Bengal. In this incident of firing, a fisherman named Muhammad Osman was killed, and three fishermen were shot dead.

At the same time, five trawlers were abducted by the Myanmar Navy, Rafiqul Islam Khan said in a statement, saying that the fisherman who was shot dead was Muhammad Osman, the son of Bachchu Mia from Konarpara area of ​​Shahpari Island. I am deeply concerned about the killings by the Myanmar border guards.

The deceased, Md. Osman is the son of Bachu Mia from the Konarpara area of ​​Shahpari Island. He fishes in a trawler owned by Saiful Company in the Bazarpara area of ​​Shahpari Island.

Rafiqul Islam Khan said that the people of Bangladesh always want friendly behaviour from their neighbours. We hope that the Myanmar government will stop the wanton killings on the Myanmar-Bangladesh border and take legal action against the culprits by conducting a fair and impartial investigation of the massacre.

Bangladesh has protested to the country’s government over the death of fisherman Osman. On Wednesday (Oct 9), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs protested by sending a note to the Myanmar Embassy in Dhaka.

In this, the Bangladesh government called on Myanmar to take immediate steps to prevent the recurrence of such unwanted activities. Dhaka also reminded Myanmar to fully respect Bangladesh’s territorial integrity and refrain from any further provocative actions in the future.

Besides, Bangladesh has expressed deep concern about the tragic incident in the diplomatic note sent to the Myanmar embassy in Dhaka.

It should be noted that on Wednesday (October 9) at noon, a Bangladeshi fisherman was killed by firing from the coast of Myanmar at a Bangladeshi fishing trawler in the Moulvir Shil estuary in the southwest of St. Martin’s Island. Osman. Three fishermen were injured. At that time, four trawlers with 60 sailors were kidnapped and taken to Myanmar by the navy of the country. Myanmar later released the trawler and other sailors.
