Pakistan Navy Conducts Flight Test of Homegrown SMASH SLBM

Pakistan Navy conducted a successful flight test of an indigenously developed Ship-Launched Ballistic Missile. The Weapon System, with a 350 KM range, can engage land and sea targets with high precision. It is equipped with a state-of-the-art navigation system and manoeuvrability features.

The flight test was witnessed by the Chief of Naval Staff, Senior Officers from the Pakistan Navy, and dedicated scientists and engineers.

The President, Prime Minister, Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Chairman, and Service Chiefs congratulated participating naval units and Scientists on this excellent achievement.

With a range exceeding 350 kilometres, the SMASH missile (internally called P282) substantially boosts the Pakistan Navy’s offensive and defensive reach and A2/AD (Anti Access-Area Denial) capabilities. The system can precisely target both sea-based and land-based threats. Its sophisticated navigation technology enables adjustments in direction and speed mid-flight, making it highly adaptable.

While limited information is available from open sources, the missile’s range and warhead capabilities suggest that its development marks a critical advancement for Pakistan, strengthening the strategic balance in the Indian Ocean region.
