Indian Hindu Nationalist Godi Media Urges Narendra Modi to Bomb Bangladesh’s Base Hosting Turkish-made Bayraktar TB2 Drones

The increasingly authoritarian Modi government’s latest proposal includes annexation of Bangladesh. Commenting on a recent documentary on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s alleged role in a massacre of Muslims two decades ago would have been familiar to American cable news viewers, Modi’s critics said.

India’s top court has rebuked a former spokesperson of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over her controversial comments about the Prophet Muhammad.

The BJP has suspended Nupur Sharma

Nupur Sharma’s remarks, made in a TV debate in May-end, incensed Indian Muslims and outraged Islamic nations.

The relationship between India and Bangladesh is deteriorating. Pro-Modi Godi media, including Zee News, Times Now, India Today, Aaj Tak, CNN-News18, India TV, NDTV, and others, have been actively seeking to engage Bangladesh militarily and urging Modi to test the Rafale jets in Bangladesh.

India’s relationship with Bangladesh, once very close under the pro-Modi Hasina regime, is going through a delicate phase. Both nations started rhetoric inflaming tensions after Sheikh Hasina was ousted from power and sheltered in India. At the same time, anti-India steps are being taken in the country.

Bangladeshi students organised a large demonstration against India on Friday in the capital city of Dhaka. The organisation’s leaders also waved national flags during the demonstration, which was held under police protection.

There are reports that the Bangladesh Army has deployed Turkish-made drones near West Bengal on the Indian border. Given the increasing activities of the Bangladesh Army on the

border, the Indian Army has increased surveillance on the border. India has increased surveillance after receiving intelligence reports of increased terrorist activities on the border after the fall of Sheikh Hasina’s Awami League government.

Sources have revealed that the army has confirmed the deployment of Turkish-made Bayraktar TB2 uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs) near the border. The 67th Army of Bangladesh operates these drones for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions. While Bangladesh claimed that the deployment was for defence purposes, India is uncomfortable for its seven sister states plagued with violence torturing minorities in those regions.

Backed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Indian Godi media, which is sensationalist and biased Indian print and TV news media, urged PM Narendra Modi to bomb Bangladesh and turn it into Ukraine. India Godi media said that Bangladesh must not dare to go to war with India. But if provoked by China or any other Muslim Bangladesh, India will send Rafale jets to bomb Dhaka.

Indian media said India purposely kept Bangladesh’s military stagnant conditions under the influence of Shiekh Hasina to benefit India’s cause.

Bangladesh has an area of more than 1.48 lakh square km. Its maritime border is 580 km, and the international border is 4413 km long. However, its armed forces are known for corruption, dysfunction, ineptness, and ill-equipment. The Bangladesh Air Guard, Army, and Navy have modern weapon systems. However, most military hardware is decades old, and the armed forces are busy with lucrative UN peacekeeping missions to earn money. Godi media urged Narendra Modi to annex Bangladesh and make it India’s Crimea.

Seema Chishti, editor of The Wire, one of India’s most prominent independent news websites, told Religion News Service, “All values cherished by journalists, of either journalism or even basic democracy and accountability, have been pushed aside in the current environment.”
