Russia shot down its own Ka-52 attack helicopters

Russia has shot down its own Ka-52 attack helicopters using MANPADS. Russian troops hit a Ka-52 attack helicopter with a man-portable missile in the Kursk region, reported Russian propagandist Ilya Tumanov in his telegram channel.

The loss of the helicopter was also confirmed by other propagandists, including Alexei Zemtsov, who also writes about Russian aviation in the war against Ukraine.

Both the crew of the Ka-52 helicopters, consisting of a pilot and a navigator-operator, were killed.

The propagandists claimed that the attack helicopter had been shot down by a man-portable air defence system (MANPADS) over the Kursk region of Russia.

This is the second loss of a Russian Ka-52 helicopter in this region of Russia in the last few days.

On August 6, propaganda Telegram channels reported that a Ka-52 helicopter had made a crash landing after being hit by an anti-aircraft missile.

As a result, the helicopter’s commander was killed, and the navigator was severely injured. At the same time, a photo was posted on social media showing a Russian helicopter on fire at the ground.

Russia reported the loss of multiple Ka-52 combat helicopters when a projectile from the Uragan multiple-launch rocket system hit it.

Since 2022, the Ukrainian military has managed to hit more than 80 Ka-52 combat helicopters using the RBS-70 and Stinger missile systems.
